Dear LLI Members,
We, LLI at VT members, are now clearly identified as in the demographics of folks at greatest risk concerning the rapidly spreading Coronavirus. Our primary concern is for our health, as well as the safety of our volunteer instructors. Therefore, all LLI classes and special events will be cancelled for the remainder of the Spring term starting Monday March 16th.
This decision did not come easily as we all treasure the camaraderie as well as the learning experiences found in our LLI classes and events. However, we believe it is most important that we do all we can to protect the health of our members, instructors, speakers and the NRV community by helping to slow the spread of the virus. Our situation is exacerbated because, not only do we hold LLI classes on the VT campus (which has cancelled all classroom courses), but we meet at Warm Hearth Village, local churches, the Blacksburg Recreation Center and several other venues. Their well-being and their Coronavirus mitigation policies are also valued highly and must be honored.
As almost all of the expenses for operating LLI Spring 2020 have already been incurred, regrettably, refunds will not be possible. There will be an exception for certain Special Event trips and for classes that have not yet started for this term; registered participants will be contacted directly.
We sincerely thank each of you for your continued support and understanding. Your enthusiasm for LLI makes the time and energy devoted so worthwhile. Our team is diligently working on LLI Fall 2020 where we hope to see each of you again. May your summer be safe and joyous.
Please direct any questions to Heidi Dickens, our LLI Registrar at 540-231-4364. She will make sure to get your question to the person who can provide the best answer.
