Welcome to Continuing and Professional Education of Outreach and International Affairs at Virginia Tech. As part of a rapidly growing outreach activity at the university, we provide more than 400 short courses, seminars, workshops, training programs, and conferences to 30,000 individuals per year. Most of this activity involves post-graduate level instruction for individuals who are seeking to develop their knowledge and skill in their respective professional areas.

Upcoming Conferences

5th Annual Energy Harvesting Workshop
March 3-4, 2010
This workshop will bring together academic and industrial researchers on one platform to review past developments, current challenges and future goals in the field of energy harvesting and its application to structural health monitoring. The focus of the workshop is on small scale devices. The presence of the leading industries, national labs, defense agencies, and NASA at one location makes this a landmark event.

Civil War Weekend
March 12- 14, 2010
The 19th Annual Civil War Weekend will be held at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center. The event is led by James I. Robertson, Jr., an Alumni Distinguished Professor at Virginia Tech and among the most popular speakers on Civil War history in the nation. Assisting him is William C. Davis, a prolific writer on the war period and a sought-after lecturer in his own right. Davis is Director of Programs for the university's Virginia Center for Civil War Studies. Other hand selected speakers will also participate in this weekend event.
