It is our goal to make String Phenomenology 2017 representative of the diverse and vibrant international community working on this topic. We understand that some of you may have concerns about the recent US Executive Order on Travel and Immigration. VISA Information
Conference attendees who reside outside the United States may need to apply for a VISA at the American Embassy, consulate, or other visa issuing office in their country of origin. Please begin your VISA application process as soon as possible, as applications may take several months to process.

Instructions for requesting an Invitation Letter
Many VISA issuing offices require that you present a letter of invitation to the conference, proof of conference registration, and airline ticket confirmation, along with your visa application. Getting to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA
By air:
The closest major airport is Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport
(www.roanokeairport.com),
about 38 miles northeast of Blacksburg. It is
serviced by Allegiant Air, American, United Airlines, or
Delta, which connect to dozens of leading metropolitan cities (Orlando,
Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, and
Charlotte).
International Flights:
Dulles International Airport (Airport Code: IAD)
All direct
international flights to Washington, DC fly into Dulles. From Dulles,
you may take a direct flight to Roanoke, VA, take the MegaBus
(www.megabus.com) to Christiansburg, VA where you will take the SmartWay
Bus to Blacksburg, VA or you may rent a car and drive to Blacksburg, VA
from the Dulles International Airport.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport (Airport Code: CLT)
All direct
international flights to Charlotte, NC fly into Charlotte Douglas
International Airport. From Charlotte, you may take a direct flight to
Roanoke, VA, tor you may rent a car and drive to Blacksburg, VA from the
Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Ground Transportation Available: The following are options for any ground transportation you may need after your arrival. These services can be found on the first floor of the terminal near the baggage claim area.
Roanoke Airport Transportation Service (www.roanokeats.com) provides
easy access to Blacksburg and the Inn at Virginia Tech. The airport is
approximately 45 minutes away from scenic Blacksburg.

Smart Way Bus Service

Service is $4 per person to Blacksburg. The bus operates Monday through
Saturday (does not run on Sunday) at regularly scheduled times. Bus
drops off on the Virginia Tech campus at the Squires Student Center
