The Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries will host the 2013 National Bobwhite Technical Committee (NBTC) Annual Meeting at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, 110 Shenandoah Avenue, Roanoke, Virginia on July 23-26, 2013.
We invite you to attend the four day conference. The theme for the conference is "Appalachian Overlap" where quail, grouse, turkey, woodcock and golden-winged warblers share ecosystems.
Roanoke offers cooler weather, very low hurricane threat, a chance to see some-thing new for many of you, and lower summer rates on hotels compared to our beaches. Take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful mountains of the Blue Ridge Parkway that is only 30 minutes away. Roanoke's Center in the Square offers entertainment nightly and is only a short skywalk away.
Our conference includes several social events. Join us Tuesday evening for a reception featuring an "open mic" and NBTC musical "talent" (BYOI Bring Your Own Instrument). The dinner and Awards Banquet will be held on Wednesday. On Friday the field trip will be a 4-wheel-drive tour of the mountains, including large scale USFS burn units. We'll end up over 4000 feet with a magnificent view.
