On behalf of the organizing committee of the International Pasteurellaceae Society, I would like to welcome you to the 2008 Pasteurellaceae meeting at the Sorrento Hilton Palace Hotel in beautiful Sorrento, Italy. Sorrento is a popular destination spot on the western coast of Italy, and in close proximity to Naples and Naples International Airport. Sorrento is located on the beautiful Amalfi coast and in view of Mount Vesuvius. The famous Isle of Capri is located just off the tip of Sorrento. Excursions to both Mount Vesuvius/Pompeii and the Isle of Capri are available to all participants and guests immediately after the meeting. In addition, walking tours of Sorrento will be available during the week.
An exciting program has been established that will consist of the latest ongoing research involving taxonomy, genetics, model systems, biochemistry, pathogenesis, vaccine development, and the host immune response to most members of the Pasteurellaceae. In addition to invited talks by some of the most respected leaders in the field and poster presentations, a few delegates will be invited to give oral presentations of their work described on their posters. The official language for the meeting will be English. The meeting is organized to provide an afternoon break to relax or visit Sorrento and the surrounding countryside.
Registration includes lunches and breaks during the meeting, the opening reception, the closing banquet, abstract book, and admission to scientific sessions. Breakfast is included in the hotel accommodations. Tickets for meal vouchers (opening reception and closing banquet) will be available for accompanying guests.
Links and information to Sorrento and surrounding areas, the hotel, sponsors, final program, registration, and abstract submission are available through buttons on the left side of this site. Registration for students and postdocs (with confirmed letter of their status from their Department Chair) is discounted for those who are presenting a poster. Additional travel grants for students may be provided if funds are available.
We look forward to an exciting and productive meeting, and seeing you in Sorrento.
