The Higher Education Dual Career Network (HEDCN) is an informal network of individuals working at institutions of higher education around the world on issues related to faculty and/or staff dual career recruitment. Member institutions include universities not only from the United States, but also from Canada and Germany.
The first Dual Career Conference was held in 2003 hosted by the
University of Iowa. The major goals of that initial conference were to
establish benchmark practices among existing programs and provide
information on current trends and practices to institutions launching
new programs. The annual conference has subsequently been hosted by
Purdue University, the University of Michigan, Texas A&M, Cornell
University, and the University of Utah. The seventh annual conference
is being hosted by Virginia Tech. The conference continues a tradition
of informality with supportive colleagues openly sharing ideas and
issues.
