Attendance: The conference is being held for Title III Statewide Consortium members and is funded under Title III, Part A, Language Instruction for English Learners and Immigrant Students. It is recommended that a team of two represent each division in the consortium and that at least one team member be either a lead teacher or instructional specialist working with English Learners who would be able to disseminate information from the conference to educators at the local level.
By registering for this technical assistance opportunity, attendees are committing to attending the conference in its entirety.
Lodging/ Travel: Lodging will be funded by the Department of Education on January 15, 2019, and January 16, 2019, for those participants traveling a distance of 25 miles or more one way as measured from the participant’s assigned place of work. Attendees are encouraged to cover travel expenses (mileage and meals not provided at the conference) through their consortium grants, as these costs are not assumed by the Department.
Should lodging be required, it will be made on your behalf by Virginia Tech. When registering for the conference, indicate which night(s) you require a hotel room. You will receive your lodging confirmation from the conference registrar, not from the hotel. No lodging reservations may be made directly with the hotel unless paying individually. As a reminder, a condition of the Department of Education paying for your lodging is an expectation that you will attend all sessions. For directions, go to the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center.
