The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to host a two-day technical assistance academy for federal program coordinators and other key instructional staff supporting the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) programs. The Academy will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton in Williamsburg, Virginia, beginning on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, with the 8 a.m. opening session and concluding at noon on Thursday, August 4, 2016. Sessions at the Academy will provide updates on the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA), ESEA programs, including the application, federal program monitoring, administrative practices, fiscal issues, equitable services for private schools, and best practices.
Pre-academy Session and Dinner
New coordinators who have been working with federal programs for three years or less will have the opportunity to attend a pre-academy session that will explore in-depth the fundamentals of the federal program in which they are working. The pre-academy begins on Tuesday, August 2 from 1 to 4:15 p.m., followed by a networking dinner from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
