The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce the annual technical assistance academy for federal program coordinators and other key instructional staff supporting programs under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).
The academy will be held at two regional locations. Attendance according to the regional location of the school division is strongly encouraged.

Day 1 at each location will begin with a pre-academy new coordinators' session from 9 a.m. to noon for Title I, Part A; Title II, Part A; and Title III, Part A. These sessions are designed specifically for coordinators with three years or less experience to explore in-depth the fundamentals of the federal program in which they are working.
Following the pre-academy for new coordinators, the academy will begin at noon for all participants. Focus areas will include ESSA, ESEA updates on application submissions, federal program monitoring, administrative practices, fiscal issues, equitable services for private schools, and family engagement.
