Credentialing and Training Sessions

AAFCS Broad Field Family and Consumer Sciences Assessment
Wednesday, August 1, 2017

Note: The certification is valid for three years. Teachers who earned certification in 2014 will be eligible to renew the credential this summer.

Audience: All Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers

Fee: $30 - payable when you register for the VATFACS conference.

Schedule: Register for one of the following sessions:

Session A: 8:15 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. (for Institute registrants only)
Session B: 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Session C 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Registration Deadline: July 11, 2017. No registrations accepted after the deadline date.

Class Limits: This session is limited to 23 participants in each of the three sessions.

Provider: American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, 400 N. Columbus Street, Suite 202, Alexandria, VA 22314.

Description: Virginia has received special permission from AAFCS to administer the Broad Field FACS assessment to family and consumer sciences teachers once a year at the VATFACS Professional Development Institute. Teachers may register for the assessment on the institute registration form. The competency list can be downloaded from the AAFCS Web site at http://www.aafcs.org/prepac/Broad_Field.html.

Special Note:
If you are scheduled for the AAFCS assessment, you must check-in at the VATFACS registration desk at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. You will receive your testing ID #, directions to the Higher Education Center, and special information pertinent to this assessment at registration. You will not be allowed into the testing site without your assigned ID #. This assessment will be administered at the Higher Education Center.
