The Virginia Institute for Lifelong Learning, VAILL, is a summer gathering of adult education and literacy providers throughout the Commonwealth. The Virginia Department of Education's Office of Adult Education and Literacy sponsors this three-day, professional development event where adult educators have the opportunity to learn about new best practices and receive targeted training from both their colleagues in the state as well as from trainers and adult educators from other states.
Keynote addresses by nationally recognized speakers and a broad range of sessions on proven 'how to' strategies are hallmarks of the VAILL experience. Social events, networking opportunities, and vendor activities are also scheduled so that a conference environment and a retreat environment come together to provide a rewarding and entertaining professional development experience.
The theme of VAILL 2016 is "Learn . . . Connect . . . Achieve," which reflects the new direction of adult education. With the enactment of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), local adult education providers (Learn), working with their regional workforce partners (Connect), are preparing adults for meaningful and sustainable employment (Achieve).
VAILL 2016 will be held July 27-29, 2016, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, on the campus of James Madison University. We hope you will join us!
