USDA/CSREES Grantsmanship Workshop

The Southern Association of Agricultural Experiment Station Directors (SAAESD), Northeastern Regional Association of State Agricultural Experiment Station Directors (NERA) and Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES) are pleased to host a two-day workshop on grant writing. The September 30th Grantsmanship Workshop focuses on CSREES-USDA Funding Opportunities, with an emphasis on the National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program (NRICGP), Higher Education, Multicultural Alliances and International Programs, Integrated Research, Education and Extension Programs, Children Youth and Families At Risk Program,Pest Management Alternatives Program (PMAP), and Small Business Innovation Research Programs (SBIR). Starting from Fiscal Year 2007, the National Research Initiative and a number of other competitive grants programs will accept ONLY electronic application submissions through Grants.gov. There will be an exhibit at the workshop to provide an opportunity to ask questions and have queries addressed by key agency personnel.

The October 1st Writing Winning Grants Workshop focuses on how to navigate the grant writing process. Participants will be walked through the process of developing a successful grant submission, how to participate in the review process, proposal organization, the development of integrated team proposals and will also highlight common errors and what should be avoided.

The workshops will be held September 30 - October 1, 2008 at the Marriott Crystal Gateway, Arlington, VA as part of a two-day series offered by the USDA, NERA and SAAESD. When taken together, participants gain a complete understanding of the grant writing process.

The workshop is designed for an audience of researchers, extension specialists, educators and administrators. CSREES staff responsible for the administration of the various programs will make presentations.
