Conference field trip

A one day field trip will occur on Tuesday that will examine the unique geology, soils and vegetation relationships of the Appalachians. The field tour will provide stops that observe how shale or limestone parent materials influence vegetation communities as well as the influence of colluvial and alluvial soils on forest productivity. The tour will end at the famous Mountain Lake Hotel where conference attendees will enjoy the natural beauty of the area, a banquet and mountain music atop the highest lake in elevation, east of the Mississippi.

Post-conference

A three day field tour, beginning Thurs afternoon, is being planned from Blacksburg, Virginia through the Blue Ridge Mountains, across the Piedmont to the Coastal Plain to observe a range of soils and vegetation communities. Don't miss this exciting trip as space will be limited. More details to come as the conference date approaches.
