Travel

The most direct air travel route to the Virginia Tech campus is the Roanoke Regional Airport (ROA), which is approximately 45 minutes from Blacksburg. The two closest international airports to the Virginia Tech campus are Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), approximately 4 hours from Blacksburg, and Charlotte/Douglas International Airport (CLT), approximately 3 hours from Blacksburg. The conference has set up charter shuttle services from each of these airports, as well as receiving rooms in hotels near IAD and CLT prior to shuttle departures. The international airports may provide an attractive alternative for travelers who wish to avoid a connection or are not able to secure a seat on the ROA flights.

Special Travel Notice: Those attendees traveling to Blacksburg via Interstate 81 should be aware of daily construction taking place that reroutes traffic off of the Interstate on to Route 460, causing travel delays. Please visit the Virginia Department of Transportation website for daily updates: http://www.vdot.virginia.gov/travel/travel_alerts/default.asp
