The Lean Construction Institute cordially invites you to attend the 4th Lean Construction Institute Academic Forum meeting that will take place on February 14, 2004 in the Airport Hilton Hotel in Atlanta, GA.

The Academic Forum's mission is to increase lean construction research and teaching activities in institutions of higher education in order to further and encourage lean construction education and training for professionals entering the architectural/engineering/construction industry (AEC).

This meeting will be devoted to:

  1. Presentation of Lean Construction classroom instructional models.

  2. Presentations by graduate students on their ongoing research.

  3. Drafting an outline for a group proposal to NSF to sponsor a Lean Construction Awareness/Understanding workshop for academic institutions.

  4. Cataloging ongoing research and teaching efforts in Lean Construction

The forum will have a conference-like setting where each participant gets 10-12 minutes to present the current research/teaching efforts he/she is undertaking. Individuals can also present on behalf of research groups or centers.

The registration for the meeting is $125 which also includes a one-year individual membership in the Lean Construction Institute. The forum will begin at 8:00 AM and close at 4:00 PM.

Registration Information: Registration deadline is February 1, 2004. Faculty and students are also invited to attend a two-day workshop on Lean Construction on February 12-13, 2004 in the same venue. The 2-day workshop registration is: $500 for Current LCI Members and $650 non-members (includes ONE year membership in LCI as an individual member, refreshments and lunch on each day, and seminar workbook). $300 Student fee

The forum will take place at the Atlanta Airport Hilton. A block of lodging room has been set aside at the hotel at a special rate of $129. Participants are responsible for their own hotel accommodations and to receive the $129 rate you must make your reservation by January 12, 2004. You may make your lodging arrangements by calling (404) 767-9000 and refer to the Introduction to Lean Construction room block.
