Benefits for Seniors

photo of seniors

Under the Code of Virginia on a space-available basis, Virginia residents 60 years or older may register for and attend up to three noncredit continuing education courses per calendar year without payment of instruction-related fees. This exemption does not apply to out-of-pocket expenses such as food and materials typically associated with noncredit continuing education programs. Likewise, this exemption does not apply to programs specifically targeted for or attended by senior citizens, e.g., Elderhostel and Retire Blacksburg. Interested seniors need to complete and submit the downloadable form within 10 business days of the beginning of the program to the listed address to verify age and residency to be eligible for this exemption.
