and your peers on Sunday evening, March 30 at the Inn at Virginia Tech.
This will be an informal event to get to know each other, pick up your
conference materials and enjoy our evening. John Rudd, Director of
Financial Planning, along with Erving Blythe, Vice President for
Information Technology, both of Virginia Tech, will offer words of welcome
to the conference participants.

John Rudd, HEDW Conference 2008 Welcoming Speaker
As Director of Financial Planning at Virginia Tech, John Rudd leads the
preparation of long-term financial plans and coordinates the development of
the biennial budget request. Working directly with the academic units and
the University administration, John's unit collects, analyzes, and reports
financial information for the university and benchmark institutions.
Previously Mr. Rudd has served as the University's Director of Internal
Audit and Management Services, Finance Project Team Leader for the
University and the Virginia Tech Foundation during the implementation of
the current General Ledger and Receivables systems, and Manager of General
Accounting and Data Control. He was instrumental in the successful design,
development and implementation of the University's first data mart in
conjunction with leading the implementation of the General Ledger and
Receivables systems.
Mr. Rudd is a Certified Public Accountant, and before coming to Virginia
Tech, he served as a Senior Auditor for the Auditor of Public Accounts,
Commonwealth of Virginia. He holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in
Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration from Virginia Tech.
