Since December 2007, Virginia's child-serving agencies have worked to increase our effectiveness in helping at-risk children and their families succeed through strengthening: safety measures for children and families; family-based placements; and lifelong family connections. The Transformation work began with thirteen targeted localities from across Virginia. Our collaborations have focused on the development of a shared vision for children who are in (or at risk for) home placement and the implementation of proven best practices. Since the beginning of 2009, we have been working to spread the initiative across the Commonwealth.
