About the Growers Academy

The Virginia Tech Catawba Sustainability Center is offering Growers' Academy in Wytheville. Courses are specifically designed to help new and transitioning agricultural businesses succeed. The learning series is focused on low-input crop production techniques and identifying ways to launch your own agribusiness. Instructors represent resource professionals and farm business owners.

Topics include:

  • Introduction to Whole Farm Planning
  • Business and Finance
  • Soil and Pest Management
  • Good Agricultural Practices & Food Safety
  • Marketing
  • Crops and Crop Planning

The Farm Credit Knowledge Center is committed to sharing knowledge and resources to individuals interested in agriculture. Their generous scholarship lowered the fee to $175 for each person who wishes to participate in the 2015 Grower's Academy.
