James (Jim) J. Zuiches is Vice Chancellor for Extension, Engagement, and Economic Development at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. The Office of the Vice Chancellor includes the Cooperative Extension Service, Industrial Extension Service, Small Business and Technology Development Center, non-credit programs of the Jane S. McKimmon Center for Extension and Continuing Education, the Economic Development Partnership, and the General H. Hugh Shelton Center for Leadership Development, as well as all outreach and public service programs of the colleges and other university programs.

Prior to joining N.C. State University, Zuiches served as dean of the College of Agriculture and Home Economics (1995-2003) at Washington State University, as well as the director of Cooperative Extension (1995-1998), director of the Agricultural Research Center (1986-94), and as professor in the Department of Community and Rural Sociology (1986-2006). In addition, he previously served as the W. K. Kellogg Foundation program officer (1994-95), at Cornell University (1982-86), the National Science Foundation (1979-82), and Michigan State University (1971-79). He received his Ph.D. and M.S. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and his B.A. in philosophy and sociology from the University of Portland.
