Jim Dubinsky is an associate professor of English and director of the Professional Writing Program. His research focuses on the scholarship of teaching, combining historical, rhetorical, and qualitative methods to study both the teaching of professional communication and the importance of experiential learning engagement to that work. Dubinsky makes a case for service-learning as a pedagogical strategy that helps students and teachers become more reflective, enables them to make both practical and ethical judgments while acting for the public good, and gives them opportunities to apply the key concepts, strategies, and skills they learn. |
