2009 Career and Technical Education Summer Professional Development Institute - August 3-7, 2009 - Greater Richmond Convention Center - Richmond, Virginia
Teacher & Student Showcase

Dear Colleague:

The 2009 Career and Technical Education Summer Professional Development Institute is fast approaching. This year's activities and informational sessions are sure to be a hit with both teachers and students alike. The new Teacher Showcase and Student Showcase on Tuesday, August 4, are two fantastic opportunities for instructors and their students to share their innovative and creative ideas and products.

There is no additional cost to enter the showcase. Furthermore, incentives will be awarded to all who enter! Instructional innovations, based on one of the Institute strands, will be the focus of the teacher showcase. The student showcase will focus on projects/products completed during the 2008-2009 school year.

One method by which each showcase may be presented is a standard science fair poster display board (36"x48" flat unfolded). Another medium to promote your idea may be used, but remember that space is limited. Half of an eight-foot banquet table will be provided for each display. Get ready to demonstrate your creative juices flowing to make your entry eye-catching and informative. Be ready to impress the judges!

Entries will be accepted from any subject area but must have a CTE connection. There will be a judging window where someone will need to be present to provide an explanation of and/or answer questions regarding the entry. Therefore, you will have to have at least one person at your entry during this time. If you have a more creative way of sharing information about your entry, please feel free to use it!

Please review the Teachers and Students Showcases Guidelines for specific contest rules. Also, a copy of the Teacher Rating Form and Student Rating Form is available for download.

Don't miss this opportunity to share with others across the Commonwealth all of the wonderful things that are happening in your school.

If you have any questions regarding the showcase please contact Bonnie B. English at (804) 225-2618 or Bonnie.English@doe.virginia.gov.

Sincerely,
