COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND ASSESSMENT TECHNIQUES FOR CPTED
Wednesday, January 30, 2008 (1:30pm to 4:30pm)
Instructors: Tinus Kruger and Macarena Rau
Many CPTED practitioners need to understand the problems and issues of a
neighborhood and community, and must find ways to engage the public and
to document existing conditions. A number of highly sophisticated
methods are available using computers and GIS systems, public hearings,
surveys and internet forums. What about more informal methods of
engagement and documentation?
This workshop with offer several approaches for improving communication
with residents, property owners and businesses. It will also provide
some new methods for documenting field work related to architecture and
buildings, travel patterns, or other key elements of a CPTED analysis.
