The 11th International ICA CPTED Conference has been cancelled. Please
refer to the ICA homepage at http://www.cpted.net/
to check for future conference information.
This is a conference about people, about the ways they interact with one
another and with the physical, legal, social, and economic environments
that surround them. While the conference is about crime prevention,
there is much to be learned from programs and projects that are not
specifically focused on either crime or prevention.
The International CPTED Association would like to develop new ways of
looking at and thinking about the environment; to consider new
methodologies and approaches to problem solving; to borrow tools and
techniques from planning and design, public health, biology and
psychology, law and justice, information and electronic technology, and
many others.
We therefore encourage papers and presentations from practitioners and
researchers in any related discipline or research area/interest. Student
papers and projects are welcomed.
Optional Workshop
In addition to the conference, the ICA is offering a workshop:
An Introduction to Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design
The workshop will be held at the Roanoke Higher Education Center and
is available for an additional fee. Individuals interested in the
workshop but not the conference are welcome to enroll in this
offering. Please see the Workshops tab on this site for additional
information.
About the International CPTED Association (ICA)
The International CPTED Association (ICA) is a professional membership
organization whose members are the leading authorities on crime
prevention through environmental design. ICA's mission is to identify,
promote and develop good practice in the design of safer environments.
The Association was founded on a belief that many disciplines have
contributed to our understanding of the environment and the physical,
social, legal, economic, and technological characteristics that create
safe and productive spaces and places. These are places that:
- are creatively designed and aesthetically intriguing
- afford opportunities for positive engagement and interaction among a variety of people
- promote the health and well-being of users
- are supported by adequate and appropriate technology and infrastructure, and
- are organized under clearly defined, consistently applied, and routinely enforced laws, rules, regulations and policies.
