All Write @ Virginia Tech Creative Writing and Digital Media Workshop is the ideal summer experience for young people, aged 10-18, who love to write and want to write about things that matter. Join us for this week-long creative workshop, and learn many ways to record and preserve your feelings in your preferred genres, including poetry, fiction, non-fiction, drama, memoir, illustrated writing, digital narratives, and more!
Write about your wildest dreams, your favorite sport, your fears and hopes, your best friend, your family stories, your most intriguing challenges, your memories, your important thoughts, and anything else that you love to write about.
Do you like to take your writing even further with technology? You can work on digital writing projects, make a movie, write a blog, create a PowerPoint poem, and more. The last two hours of your day will be spent working on the project of your choice in any class that you prefer.
Students, who will be in 5th - 12th grades in fall 2016, are welcome to register. Younger than this? Have your parents contact Aileen Murphy at firstname.lastname@example.org and explain why you would like to participate.
You will have 90 minutes for lunch, followed by two hours of free time to work with whichever project/class of your choosing. The workshop ends each day at 3:30 p.m.
Kids who attended this workshop had this to say about their experiences:
"It helped me learn to write poems and describe things more."
“The pen and paper instruction part...was quite good. It showed many different types of writing.”
“I got to make a movie.”
“I couldn't wait to start with a PowerPoint to do the animation for words!”
