Suggestions for how to select a diverse representative delegation include:

It is our goal to help each campus bring eight community members – seven students with 1-faculty advisor. We encourage you to recruit students from a variety of campus constituencies. Our webpage is available to help answer your questions during planning. This site includes resources related specifically to the 2009 conference and is intended to help you recruit delegates on your campus and plan your trip to Blacksburg.

Templates will be available for your use if you wish to incorporate the tools into your selection process.

Potential audiences include university governance student leaders, programming boards, student athletes, leadership development program participants, leadership course – business, management, psychology, agriculture - etc. students with curricular interests in the topics planned, student employees and managers, student organization members and leaders, students involved in community outreach and social justice programs, teaching assistants, and Greek members.

We encourage each campus to work to diversify delegations. Please consider bringing students from a cross-section of academic interests as well as year in college. We highly encourage advisors to utilize a variety of recruitment tools so that you reflect a cross-section of your student body in your delegation. We look forward to gathering in February to interact with people from a large variety of backgrounds, interests and experiences.
