Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Roanoke is known as the Star City of the South. The Roanoke Star, located on top of Mill Mountain, lights up the evening sky and welcomes visitors to the city. Roanoke has it all-from heritage and history to technology and culture, restaurants, museums, golf, tennis, shopping, (including antiques and crafts), a zoo, a minor league baseball team and a hockey team. Beyond the Star City's glow is the Blue Ridge Parkway, with breathtaking overlooks, trails, wineries, history, and the Smith Mountain Lake resort area.
The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center, built in 1892 and known as "the Grand Old Lady," is located downtown and is connected to the Market District by a covered walkway. Originally built by the Norfolk and Southern Railroad, it has undergone a number of changes and renovations, and today is a modern and well-equipped four-star hotel and conference center, while still retaining the ambience of a bygone era.
You can reserve your lodging room now by contacting The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center toll free at 1-866-594-4722 or directly at 540-985-5900 or by using the online reservation system.
A block of lodging rooms is being held until October 10, 2008 at a special conference rate of: $119 per room per night for single occupancy or $139 for double occupancy, plus 12% tax. Be sure to mention that you are with the International Congress on Farm Animal Endocrinology when you make your reservations. After October 10 (or if the room block fills before then), the special conference rate might not be available, so please make your reservations early. The hotel also requires that any changes in departure date be confirmed directly with the hotel no later than October 10; otherwise, you could be held responsible for paying for the remaining nights if you depart early.
